During the 3-day long inauguration of the ms2, the Manufaktura complex will turn into an arena of artistic practices. Great polish artists: Julita Wojcik, Artur Malewski and Robert Rumas, will be responsible for introducing symbolic paths to the ms2 – the new space of Muzeum Sztuki in Lodz. Each of the mentioned artists has experience in performing actions on the edge of art and sociology. These artists are the ones who will give the abandoned and undefined spaces new meanings and identity. They introduce a fresh attitude against urban routine and redefine the contemporary image of the city.
The appearance of cultural institutions in a largely commercial complex seems to be intriguing not only from a sociologist’s perspective. It will also represent a starting point for artists, who will refer to certain relations between the ms2, Manufaktura and its guests’ customs. Julita Wojcik, Artur Malewski and Robert Rumas will involve spectators and people passing by in their actions. Such artistic interventions may contribute to the appearance of the ms2 in the consciousness and mental maps of people. The arena of these actions will be the whole grounds of Manufaktura.
